Answer:

Why okorder
yeah, you can do it that way, not as good of a connection but as long as you make sure you get all of the right wires together, i have done it, but the colors are different for every make of car.
You can, and some car installers do this. But here is the problem with doing this. 1. you have to have a detailed wire diagram that shows all the wire colors in the factory harness, the are not the same colors at the aftermarket one. 2. Some cars require a relay system to bypass the door chimes, and security systems. (Almost every late model GM) 3. If the after market radio has to be changed for any reason, it makes it this much more difficult to change. with a wire harness connector, just unplug it. 4. If the car is totaled, a radio will have to be in the car for the insurance company. With the factory harness still in place, you can just plug the factory radio in, and shove it back in the dash. 5. The aftermarket wire harness also will give you a little more length in wires to allow the radio to be pulled out from the dash to plug in RCA cables. with the harness cut, it makes it very difficult to add any RCA,Remote wires to the back of the radio, and also to check the fuse if the radio should shut off. An extra 15-20.00 will save you a large headache, and will make things much easier for you. I recommend using the butt end splices instead of electrical tape, it makes a cleaner, more secure connection, and easier to fix if a wire should break.
