Question:

Can I install a battery operated smoke detector over the cavity of a removed wired smoke detector?

I purchased a slew of battery operated Nest Protects because there are only two wired smoke detectors in my home and I want to increase coverage. I disconnected and removed the wired smoke detector. My question is; can I simply tuck the existing wires up into the ceiling and install the battery operated detector over it? The wires are not exposed. The connector is still attached.

Answer:

The first practical fire alarm system using the telegraph system was developed by Dr. William Channing and Moses Farmer in 1852.
I hate it when people cry about 'Whatever you do don't hit your horse' Sorry but there are times when you must hit some horses. Case in point a neighbor was just given a horse (bay fox trotter) because the 12 yr old mare decided to kick its owner. Both back feet! WHAM! Now I guarantee that I would have hit that horse had it been mine. Probably with a club. (only exaggerating a little here). Sorry, but I will not even give away a dangerous horse. I consider it unethical. The other thing is when like some people respond to questions about a bit and act like it is so bad to have a long shanked bit. Sorry, but I ride too many miles to trust anything else on the trail.
