Question:

can i keep a tortoise on carpet

i wana get a russian tortoise can i keep it on carpet in its tort table.

Answer:

yes carpet is fine. you may also want to put some sand at one end of his tort area. another great idea that my son did with his russians was put a tropical plant in the tort area with him to make him feel more 'secure'
it would not be recommended to keep a tortoise on carpet, when the tortoise wees and poos it will soak in and after a while would really smell and harbor germs, it could be a potential source of disease and infection so best stick to the recommended substrates, they are much more hygienic and easier to clean
NO it is not good, tortoises can inhale carpet fibers, and that can cause a RI or respiratory infection. Rep ti-bark is a good choice, sand is unsuitable because it is too dry and most tortoises like a more humid environment, also bad for burrowing. I have a russian tortoise ( good job at least someone other than me made a tortoise table! ) and he LOVES rep ti bark, he is around 1 or 2 ( i'm guessing) and when I put him in my house for a walk, he runs away from the carpet. So, no carpet for him because it will cost hundreds of dollars in vet bills. You can use rep ti it is as comfy as carpet but cheaper
The carpet will probably be fine, however the tortoise itself would probably prefer sand or gavel as well. Tortoises are not water reptiles as you probably already know, and the carpet is a great idea, but just to be sure it might be a good idea to allow it the choice of sand/carpet and it will probably let you know which it prefers.
carpets fin but give it other sections to
