can i move 20 cubic yards of topsoil twenty feet with a wheelbarrow and a shovel?

Answer:

I've done this, it is time consuming but doable if you are normally able to do physical labor.
That's 60ft x 60ft x 60ft of topsoil. That's a lot of topsoil. It can be done. You would be better off using a small caterpillar or a case loader.
Theoretically yes you could do it but that's 27 tonnes of topsoil would you be better off hiring a machine to do it,it would be done in no time and you wouldn't be down the ER after suffering a heart attack.
I don't know how much 20 cubic yards is exactly- I know that my husband moved about 4 pick up truck loads from the driveway to the backyard to fill in a pond about 6 ft x 6 ft. He did it pretty much alone and it took about 2 days. With a friend, 2 days, you should be able to get a lot done. I would say you both should have a wheelbarrow and a shovel if possible to make it go faster. Good Luck...
It's a lot easier and less time-consuming if you hire a mini Cat excavator instead.
