Question:

Can i paint aluminum wheels?

I'm looking to buy a set of aftermarket wheels for my LancerI was looking at used ones to save some money, but can't really find any in the dark gray or black that I wantSo I was wondering, could I have aluminum wheels painted?

Answer:

if you paint them yourself you can zero in on the color and degree of gloss that you wantas already stated when you first apply the primer you also need to sand the primer with paper that is not more fine than 600 gritpreferably 400 grit so the paint will stickno big deal if you have to touch them up once in a while if you use a spray can of paintsome spray cans are specifically made for wheels and are a urethane paint instead of lacquer so it is more durable against chipsback to the colorstart with the lightest shade you think is rightand do one wheelthen if you want to go darker just spray over what you didif you want more gloss then apply a clear coatif you want semi gloss or flat then look for spray cans that say semi gloss or flat and do not use clear coatif you really like how it came out you can always get the wheels media blasted not sand blasted and you can pay someone to spray a powder coat instead of paint.
I agree with Jake, but I would skip the dish soapJust steel wool, or a wire brush like you use on a grill and plenty of elbow greaseYou can put a bit of cooking oil in the pan to help float away the rust debris, then wipe thoroughlyThen re-season pan like he said.
Brillo or SOS pads, unlike detergents they have rust inhibitors in them.
Steel woolSome rust is good, it's full of iron.
Not a cook myself but my mother would always scrub with saltIt was abrasive enough to take the rust out as long as the amount of water was kept to just enough to dampen the towelOld school but it always seemed to do the job.
