Question:

Can I swap A 4.6L Romeo engine with a 4.6L Windsor, and if so will my current wire harness work?

I have a 98 Ford expediton with a 4.6L Romeo engine, and engine i have is a 98 4.6l windsor engine. Just need to know if the electronic end is the same( harness, computer.)

Answer:

this is a new one on me. I always thought that a 4.6 was a 4.6, was a 4.6. Yank one out toss the other one in. Truck engines have always been COP - Coil On Plug engines. I am going to have to find out more information. Never heard of a difference in this engine. Maybe you got some bad information from someone?
Yes. As long as its an OBD0 to OBD0, OBD1 to OBD1, OBD2 to OBD2 and if it Vtec or non Vtec. If you try to swap an OBD1 to OBD2 don't work, and vise versa, If both are OBD2 and are both Vtec. yea it will work, you'll just have a couple of wire left if you use the harness from a 1.8 Vtec.
Are you talking about where the engine was made? Well if yes the engines are the same and should bolt right up. The wire harness should work too.
