I got two mobile GPS units for my car which use a mini USB interface for powering. One of the units didn't come with a cigarette adapter so I am trying to figure out how to power it. Can I just use a normal USB cable? I would tap the red wire into the fuse box in my car, and ground the black wire to the frame. So:-Can a mini USB cable handle 12V for ~5ft-Is that the right way to connect them?Thanks!
no because it will explode it only takes 5 to 4.5 volts and 2 to 2.5 volts i recommend using 5 volts and 2.5 watts bye
I believe usb cables supply 5 volts. You might want to check that before you fry something.
