Question:

Can I use my digital camera as an SD Card reader?

I need a way to transfer files onto an SD Card but my computer doesn't have an SD Card slot

Answer:

You're making a mistake if you think this little device is a good storage medium, it's not and wasn't intended to be. I can't count the number of write ups we see here about corrupted cards just because people think they are good for storage, that is, take the camera around and show off their photos - a very bad idea. You can easily lose them all. Find some other means to store and show them.
You can get a really cheap SD card reader from Walmart or any other store. Buy a separate SD card if you can, so you don't risk losing your camera's SD card for when you next want to take photos and the camera refuses to record them because the card is corrupted or embedded with other data. Can't you use a USB Flash Drive for your files? They are also available really cheap now and I'm sure your computer has a USB port.
If you do not regularly format your memory card in your camera, the file structure on the card will break down and become corrupted, which will prevent you from saving additional photos to the card. The proper way to use a camera/memory card is as follows: 1) Copy all the photos from your memory card to your computer. 2) Format your card with your camera while it is in your camera. 3) Go take photos 4) EVERY DAY after you use your camera, repeat steps 1 and 2.
