Question:

Can my refrigerator run away?

I had a very important phone call just the other day from a fridge expert, and they asked me if my refrigerator was running? I said yes thinking that they meant if it was working properly, but they said i need to catch it and they hung up. Ever since then i been watching my refrigerator very closely day and night making sure it wont run away with my food. Please heeelp!!!! i need to know if they grow legs to run away from me?!!!!!

Answer:

i don't get it. if the fire fighter puts it there i could have already died in the fire/smoke, since not everyone lives in an area with a 3 minute response time. or if the fire happens around 4am, and all inside are already asleep. sorry if i am misunderstanding, but over all could be useful, although smoke rises and there fore the lights should be on the floors like in a movie theater
The Fire Academy, perhaps? Just a thought.
most all propane tanks nowadays turn off and on like any other valve. The reason the one you have turns like that is because ALL flammable gases have threads that are the opposite hand of a normal thread. That is they turn off and on the opposite of normal. They did this to let people know that it is a flammable gas, and to prevent people from hooking lines up in a manner in which they shouldn't be. So, basically it is for safety to let you know the tank contains flammable gas.
There are existing systems in which a smoke or heat detector activates evacuation lighting to help people crawling on the floor through smoke, but usually the lighting is mounted near the floor, where the visibility and temperature are more likely to allow escape. Such a system may be too expensive for private dwellings. As a firefighter, I have been in many fires where you could literally not see your had in front of your own face even with a sunny day, all the lights on and a flashlight, because of the dense smoke. Without early alarm and effective escape, that situation is not survivable without proper equipment and training. If you have a way to improve these types of lighting and evacuation systems by making them more inexpensive, reliable and useful, then by all means press on with your ideas!
