Question:

Can one intercool a ram air intake?

I‘ve done a little research on short ram vs cold air intake. A ram air system takes air from near the engine, which isn‘t quite cold. Ive also read that an intercooler on a naturally aspirated car, is pretty much useless. My question is whether an intercooler with a ram air system would be beneficial.

Answer:

Ram air intake is air that is being rammed into the intake, hence the name, but an intercooler for an N/A car will only take up space.
That's cause your azz is feeling a bit cool therefore you must wear pants once in a while. The only shadow i have seen is mine and wish it were something interesting.
Hail yeah Buk.but what I see ain't prettyit's more like bats, rats, the grossest of bugs, etc. I have to wait for someone else to get home, or turn on the lights to convince myself it's just a shadow.LOL!
no it would not other than providing a consistent air temp. where did you read a ram air took its air from near the engine? it can, as in having a ram air system on the hood but could also come from the lower grill or even from the headlight panel like a thunderbolt. your cold air kits usually place a crappy filter under the hood and draw the warm engine compartment air, but fools still buy em. now i believe to much emphasis is placed on induction and not enough on real performance mods. fyi ram air didnt help all that much either, but the scoops looked cool. in the early days of ram air, you used air from outside the engine compartment instead of the filter on the top of the carb, so its hard to say if the benefits were from the induction type, or the way cooler air being inducted. there is little to no value of ram or cold air in a modern engine management setup.
Actually, you're wrong about the functionality. A short ram intake is just a short intake tube that keeps the air filter inside the engine bay. A cold air intake is a longer intake tube that locates the filter outside the engine bay, usually in a fender. A ram air intake is an intake that uses a flat filter, but seals to the hood scoop. That hood scoop then, in turn, is in the air stream from outside and at speed will force air into the intake system. On the 4th gen Camaro SS and Firebird Firehawk, the Ram Air induction was worth about 15hp.but not until you got over 90mph. With that said, Ram Air is still naturally aspirated. Intercooler would do nothing because the air is not being artificially compressed any large amount. The most you'll see is about .25psi from ram air, and this won't heat the air enough for an intercooler to work.
