Question:

Can paper covering a fluorescent light bulb cause it to burn or cause any other harm?

I have a bright yellow fluorescent light bulb that is installed to the top of my deskI hate how bright it is and the color it gives offI covered it with two sheets of white normal paper and now the lighting is perfect and it no longer gives off that colorBut, I am unsure of whether this is safe or notThe light bulb does get considerably warm and I keep it on for a long time (several hours at once)Is this safe?

Answer:

It is not safe to have paper that close to the light bulbYou could use aluminum foil close to the light but I'd still not put it on the light bulb.
