Question:

Can quartz dissolve in water?

I just want to know if it would dissolve and then be formed in to a simple design. Or is there a different mineral that would work better that is abundant.

Answer:

Quartz was some years ago a very common material in making, radio crystals. That would be used in frequency standards, filters, and more. It didn't require much pressure, but you only got small signal values out as well. It was never that I know of considered in any mass amount formats because it was just impractical. More recently I think that the LED, comes from this same technology.
