Leaving it in the boat will give some thief a nice gift! Take it in the car if the top is properly screwed on that should be no problemAnd you have not over filled it beyond the proper capacity.
For safety I would suggest keeping the tank secure in the boatIn case f an accident it is afr morepreferable to have the boat go up n flames than the car wit you and your family inside of it.
Leave it in the boat- no chance of fumes affecting the passengers, and it's less work.
