the manager plans to reduce the cost of aluminium can.the volume that each tin can hold is 1000cm(1 liter)so the question are,determine the value or h,r,and hence calculate the ratio of h/r when the total surface area of each tin is minimum.

A 1 litre can or container, what ever its shape will have the same surface areaLook at the extremes in the shapes that you can think ofIf you have a can which has a base of 1000sq cm and a height of 1 cm, it will have a capacity of 1 litre.This will look like an oversized bird bathSimilarly, If you have a can with a base of 1 sq cm and a height of 1000cm (10 metres!), it too will hold 1 litre.This one will look like a flagpole! The rest of the ratios are between these two extremesThe only way to do it is to reduce the capacity of the can, if you plant to stick to the same gauge of aluminiumOr see if you can make do with a thinner gauge of aluminiumIf this is possible, that will reduce costs.
