Just because you and your mom were in safety doesn't mean everyone was. Even if the building was empty you'd still have to put the fire out or it will spread. I don't understand why exactly you question it.If the child can't read and there is no one else to do it he may figure it out on his own, or someone else will. What bothers you about having pulled the alarm during a fire?
