Question:

Can the mouse get in the house?

I think there may be a mouse inside of my dryer vent pipeI hear a scratching noise, is the mouse able to get into my apartment through the vent? I don't plan on moving it, I just don't know if it can chew through the metalI'm terrified! Please help!

Answer:

In general mice cannot chew through metalHowever it might be able to enter your apartment by other means, such as eating drywall, squeezing through area around pipes etc A mouse will not 'bite' you, but might cause a bit of droppings that need cleaning upMake sure all 'pipes' entering your space are securely enclosed or apply a foam insulator to fill openings You can place mouse bait behind your dryer, I would place it on a piece of aluminum foil or a paper plateIf you have a mouse, and it 'eats' the poison it will die and may produce an odor which will lead you to the dead carcassUse gloves or a plastic bag over your hand to pick it up and dispose of in the trash.
Parchment paper or use aluminum foil and spray it with Pam.
