Question:

can unplugging an aftermarket car alarm cause the battery to drain?

my cars battery keeps draining i was wondering if unplugging the old alarm can cause it to drain the battery draining started when i unplugged an alarm and tried to install a new alarm i undid all the stuff from the new alarm

Answer:

unplugging the alarm will actually make the battery last longer, you likely unplugged something else when you were messing with the alarm or it may just be time for a new battery or alternator. Most autoparts will check both for free.
that should not be the root cause for your problem.
