Can you clean engineered hardwood flooring with steam vacuum?

Answer:

It is best to not use steam mops. I recommend the Bona hardwood floor mop.
I would wash that floor, dry it streak free and then varnish it with two to three coats of high gloss LastnLast. Only if the surface is actual wood. If it's that Pergo crap or any other laminate fake wood floor, you'll be changing it in a couple of years anyway. So then don't bother. Our wood floors are 50 years old and are beautiful. Resistant to scratches and everyone remarks how nice they are. Glossy and easy keep up. Yes, we have THREE dogs too. We mop with a mild bleach solution everyday. If you don't like gloss, only the last coat should be satin or semi. Three layers of satin varnish look milky.
Id use a steam shark or some other steam mop NOT a steam vacuum. This isnt going to accomplish very much. You need a steam shark or something similar. Just dont let it sit in one spot for too long or it will start to pull the polyurethane off it or the veneer if thats the type of engineered floor you have.
In cleaning engineered hardwood floors, never use a dirty mop to clean hardwood floors! Any grit caught in the mop will scratch the finish. Hardwood floor care should never include wax, or oil-based detergents or vinegar. Vinegar will etch the surface. Waxes and oils leave a sticky residue on the surface of the wood and prevent the polyurethane from shining. When cleaning hardwood floors you need to use a proper hardwood floor cleaner.
For a while, until the floor warps.
