Although its been answered quite a few times. The expansion of the universe is often described as being similar to a flat sheet of rubber. (The gravity wells being 'dents' in the rubber. Now imagine that sheet of rubber being wrapped around upon itself to liik like a rubber balloon. (Remember - its the *sheet* that is the universe, not the air inside the 'balloon) Now, you can easily imagine the 'balloon' being expanded (we do this with regular balloons all the time) - but keep in mind - the *surface* of the balloon is the key here. Now - where is the 'center' of that surface? And if you run the film backward, the whole balloon squeezes down where did it 'start'?
