Question:

Can you make your own cold air intake for a motorcycle?

I have a 2007 Sportster EFI and I want a cold air intake. I am thinking of using one of the conical KN filters but I was wondering what other parts I would need to assemble it and if it would work as well as one of the kits off of Ebay or similar. If you have done this please include a lit of parts and how to put it together thanks

Answer:

And why would you possibly need one? The airflow around a motorcycle is generally enough to keep the temperature going into the intake low, to start with. A cold air intake for it, would be utterly pointless. Assuming you knew how the physics of all this worked, and weren't just trying to buy something because it sounded cool, anyway
A man has to do what a man has to do. Nearly 50 years ago my first means of motorized transportation was a Honda 90 motorcycle, two weeks later I bought my neighbor's unused '50 Chevy.
it worked for me 50 years ago, bought a wreck re-built it went 20 miles a day to college thro deep snow during the 3 bad winters froze me nuts off but sure as hell learnt how to ride, and still riding. Done all of the UK Ireland New Zealand parts of Ausy most of Europe just need to do the U S and Canada now. Go for it take some lessons if your not sure or buy a trials bike and do that for a year it'll teach you every thing you ned to know about riding bikes.
Its not bad to get a motorcycle in your area. And you mentioned that the bike still looks good so grab it up dude.
