Question:

Can you overwind a quartz watch?

I have an armani watch, ax1214, it is quartz powered. My date is wrong. IT is currently on the 20th. I want it to be on the 4th. Will winding it that much cause harm? Thanks

Answer:

Quartz (SiO2) is one of the commoner minerals on earth so it will be found in sedimentary rock in some form. SiO2 can be crystalline pure or as a component in other minerals. Since SiO2 is not very soluble it will erode into sand, collect, and become cemented into some form of sandstone.
