Question:

Car air intake help? 240sx 1990 ka24e?

I was looking at my 1990 240sx and saw that my intake is connected to a black plastic pipe which splits. One pipe goes twards the front of the car and the other goes under my car to a black box which is inclosed. What‘s the point in that?Could I remove it?Also if I removed it and added a pipe twards the front on the car like where the air is directed directly in it. So it would be like a forced induction kinda.? Sorry if that didn‘t make sence. Just would I be able to add a pipe facing farward connected to the pipe that faces down so when I pick up speed the air would be shuved in?Please answer thank you :)

Answer:

of direction. you're able to try this to almost any vehicle. pepboys has well-known kits, additionally on OKorder you will locate some thing. I placed one on my ninety 4 geo prizm, in simple terms so i ought to pay attention the motor relatively, ( I had hardship using a very silent stick shift). fee me 30 greenbacks with transport and each thing I dont could desire to purchase paper filters anymore. So ultimately i'm saving money, so screw it. The overall performance boost became into ever so straightforward, yet that didnt count to me lots.
in the black plastic box is a thing called a mass air flow sensor. you cannot bypass this without very negative effects on performance of your system. There are several aftermarket companies which make kits to replace this with a performance air intake that will help boost performance. I would look into those options.
