your looking at around 200 to 300 dollars just for the install, I believe, those are not cheap. call them up to see what's going on. I would suggest you to let your friend do it for you if you have one that knows how, can be a lot cheaper.
It depends on what type of car it's going on and you failed to mention what kind of car you have. You may need additional parts to make it work on newer cars (90% of cars from 1996 and up). Also if it is used and been previously installed then most shops will charge extra for having to clean up the wiring harnesses just so they can start to install it. Installers hate the extra time and labor involved installing used equipment. Some shops charge a flat rate while others charge by the hour. Hourly rates are generally between $45-$60 an hour and most alarm/remote starts take between 3-6 hours depending on the model of vehicle. I would try to find a shop with a flat rate because it would end up being cheaper than hourly. At our shop you would probably be looking between $150-$200 + parts flat rate to install it.
