Question:

Car alarm light wont go off?

I have an 88 Cutlass Supreme with an alarm. When the alarm is set, the light blinks. When it isn‘t set, the indicator light shouldn‘t be on. But today all of the sudden it is solid red and won‘t turn off, which it usually only does when a door is opened. The alarm light turns off only when I;ve started up the car now. I‘m afraid the light being on will kill my battery. Will this cause my battery to die or not, and how can I turn off the light?

Answer:

Hi , take off the negative wire from the battery for now , till you get it figured out. Its not just the light it is also the thing that tells it tobe on.
un hook the battery and hit the brakes to remove all juice from the car and re-hook battery back up
Well first off the light will not kill the battery unless you dont drive it for a year or so but the alarm has just got to be reset just turn the key to on positionwhen light is off and hold down the arm/disarm button for about 5 seconds that should reset if not have someone remove positive cable from your battery for about 10 minutes and that will reset it for sure anyway good luck chris
