Question:

Car alarm trouble?

I just bought a 1999 cadillac deville, and the alarm has been goinhg off sometimes when I enter and or exit the car. Then sometime it will beep for several minutes and sometimes just for a minute, then turns itself off. I do not have an owners manual to look and see if there is something I can do to prevent this. Does anyone know if there is a way to just deactivate the alarm permantly or do you know what could be causing this?

Answer:

There are a couple things to check. The switch that activates the alarm is on the end of the door lock tumbler that you put your key in to unlock the door. There is one on each door. They are not very well designed and break easily. Many times people have this problem after replacing an outer door handle because it's not easy to put the switch assembly back on the door lock. You have to take the interior panel off the door to get to the damn thing. There is also a chance that the drivers door jam switch which turns the interior light on and off is bad. The switch also triggers the alarm when the door is opened without turning the alarm off first. If you have a problem with the interior light function, replace the door jam push button switch first. I've replaced dozens of them.
No. I don't think cageless boarding is safe because there's no way you can offer true 24/7 supervision. Do I think dogs should be crated 22 hours a day? No. Do I think they should be able to just run around all they want to potentially get in fights and get into whatever? Also no. I pay $40/night for boarding. The facility offers 4-hour play sessions twice a day in webcam monitored indoor/outdoor play areas (two different areas for size/temperaments). There's a midday nap, where the dogs return to their cabins, which are 10x10 rooms with cots and food/water. Dogs from the same family can stay in the same cabin, but otherwise the dogs sleep alone. The cabins are not able to be monitored by webcam, but they're hooked to cameras that the facility's front desk can see. They are not supervised 24/7, but they don't need to be, as there is literally NOTHING to get into during the night when they're in their cabins. EDIT: I'm guessing this is run out of your home, in which case NO, I would not pay $25 for that. Before I found the boarder I love, my dog went to a place that was run out of someone's home (also cageless with 24/7 supervision) and she charged $7/day. That was fair for what was going on at that place. You aren't running a business, at least not with an actual commercial space and most likely no license, so I can't say that I'd pay more than $7-$10/day.
Ok here's the deal if you cant here the smoke detector from your bedroom it is a waste unless it is hard wired into all the smoke detectors. But a CO2 detector might be a wise investment in case the water heater has a exhaust leak. My rule is 1 smoke det in every bedroom, 1 smoke /CO2 in halls 20 foot from bedrooms and 1 smoke on each level of home. 1 by furnace and water heater. I wanna here the smoke alarm.
