What is best brand, what to look for in purchasing one, and also what is the difference in the two pole 4 pole scissor and also the direct drive ect, and some have the bar on the floor and some do not, hey guys that have them which ones do you recommend. Thank you for your advice. Wanted one for years the wife is finally agreeing to it and need info please.I have twelve feet seilings in my pole barn and 4 inch concrete floors that are 6000 psi. Want something that will last and that is reliable with good warranty that the company will stand behind.I will just be working on family cars and trucks and s afew friends vehicles. Trying to get advice on what works good and what doesnn‘t and which kind is best, two pole 4 pole, ect ect. also any advice on setting them up with the least amount of difficulty woruld be appreciated. Also which is the best, assymetric or symmetric ones? I donot know the pros and cons of these either.

Answer:

Buy one from an American manufacturer, If you buy off-shore you will have problems getting parts, I prefer the twin posts, because you can pull the wheels off without setting extra blocks, however 4 posters give you ramps to set tools on . Also 2 post is easier to pull engines. All depends on what work you do mainly. You have less to trip over with a 2 post. The last shop I worked in had both and I hated the 4 poster.
im in the same position, although im not married.i plan on buying one either this yr,or next to help my family shop.i plan on working out of it when im tired, lol.ive been thinking of building, that way it is portable,so i can move it into a corner or break it down when not in use.i have a very large shop, but space is still at a premium.btw im good with a rolling stool height.in my shop i can get 9 cars in there, but it would be crowded, and my portable workbench would have to be shoved outside.i still have 2 permanent benches though.right now there is a full size pool table, a 20 ft ranger in there, and a car,and some stuff stored, they gotta come get their stuff!
