Question:

cat fur and vacuums...Help?

Does anyone recommend a hand held vacuum that has good suction enough to pick up cat fur from my couches and comforters? I am so tired of those lint roller things ...so expensive because you have to use sooo much. Is there a cheaper alternative? Thanks in advance :)

Answer:

There was something called a Miracle Brush but I think it's off the market unless they renamed it. It had a 'fuzz' to it that when you swiped it one way on the furniture it'd pick up all the fur, and swiping it the other way had the fur all roll off. But if you want cheap that works good--get a couple of dish sponges, those soft rectangles, and make them damp, do sweeping strokes over the furniture and you'll see the fur come off. You can use a damp washcloth too, or a damp hand, but the sponges work pretty good. When you do a few swipes, use your fingers to pick off the roll of cat fur and continue to use it.
I have a lint brush that picks up one way and cleans out the other. I give it to my six year old grandchild and she goes over the furniture for me . She is amazed at the wads of lint and cat hair she picks up and thinks it is great fun.
I do it a different way. I cover everything with inexpensive cloth covers, and then just put the covers through the washer and dryer frequently. When I open the lint screen of my dryer immediately after this, it's covered with cat hair about half an inch thick. So that means I'm getting rid of the hair. I only use lint rollers on my good clothing, the kind I have to send to the dry cleaner for actual cleaning.
The okorder /... You can pretty much get them anywhere... Target, Walmart, Department store, etc.
I don't have a cat and my kids torment me so I torment the fish in the tank by making them believe I'll feed them soon. You know, as soon as you open the tank, the all swim to the surface !! LOL !!!
