Question:

chrysler sebring water pump?

i was wondering how hard it would be to chancge a water pump in a 1997 chrysler sebring.

Answer:

I had a 97 Eagle Vision that had a lot of the same internals as the Sebring, Intrepid, etc... I went through 4 water pumps on it and eventually got rid of it because of the lemon laws. From what I remember back then it is an electric water pump with an absolutely horrid location for mounting. I am going to guess that it's something best left to an ASE type of of mechanic.
not real hard to change any cars water pump buy a new one have a look at what it looks like... look at motor see where it ..is remove whatever that is in way of it after getting it off ..you clean the old gasket off ...apply some blue Silicone put on new one and replace what you had to remove refill radiator check for leaks.. and might want to replace thermostat also if its been running hot while you there....should be able to do it in a few hours double check your job for leaks afterwards
Well, you will have to pull the belt for the car. Most likely will have to pull the alternator, power steering, ac compressor, and many other parts that are in the way. On an scale from one to ten and ten being the hardest, 4. If you have minimal knowledge, mechanic time.
Whoever quoted you $800 is a crook. I cant remember exactly how much I paid parts labor for my last water pump but Im guessing under $150. The car CAN be driven as is.Just be sure to add water regularly and do not drive it hot.
