Question:

Classic Wrestling Tourney Rd.2 pt.1?

In the spirit of march madness, I have devised a 64 man wrestling tournament from the early to mid 80s. I have taken 16 stars from each of the four major promotions at that time (WWF, AWA, WCCW, and NWA). The second round will be in 2 parts. First round very interesting. You comments matched my thoughts that Hennig vs. Orndorf might be the closest match-ups. Your votes control who advances, and I only voted if there was a tie. Here is round 2.Ric Flair (NWA) vs. Kamala (WCCW)The Crusher (AWA) vs. Jimmy Snuka (WWF)Barry Windham (NWA) vs. Sting (NWA)Ultimate Warrior (WWF) vs. Greg Valentine (WWF)David Von Erich (WCCW) vs. Iron Sheik (WWF)Dusty Rhodes (NWA) vs. King Kong Bundy (WWF)Randy Savage (WWF) vs. Lex Luger (NWA)Rick Martel (AWA) vs. Curt Hennig (AWA)thank you for participation, and pt. 2 is coming soon.

Answer:

Ric Flair Jimmy Snuka Sting Greg Valentine David Von Erich Dusty Rhodes Randy Savage Curt Henning
Ric Flair. He had no trouble handling the big guys. The Crusher. One of the toughest wrestlers ever. Sting. Just that much better than Windham. Ultimate Warrior. Valentine was a slow-paced wrestler. Warrior would just blitz him in the first couple of minutes and get the win. David Von Erich. Better wrestler than the Sheik. Dusty Rhodes. Bundy isn't THAT much bigger and Rhodes was a better wrestler and brawler. Randy Savage. He'd just out-wrestle Luger. Curt Hennig. Martel was great in the AWA, but Curt was greater.
Ric Flair The Crusher Sting Greg Valentine David Von Erich Dusty Rhodes Randy Savage Curt Hennig
Ric Flair over Kamala. - Sorry Uganda, but the giant is no match for Flair. The Crusher over Snuka - Crusher was the original Stone Cold, and way more badass than people give him credit for. Windham over Sting - Anyone that says Sting hasn't seen any of Windham's 60 or 90 minute broadways with Flair. The guy could wrestle, and since this is a classic wrestling tourney, Sting was still a youngin'. Greg Valentine over Warrior - I'm not sure why Warrior is even in this tournament. He didn't debut until 1985, and wasn't in the WWF until 1987. He's definitely an odd man out. Iron Sheik over Von Erich - David was one of the lesser Von Erichs... Sheik in a landslide. Dusty Rhodes over Bundy - This tournament puts Dusty in his prime. He was world champ in 1979. Bundy was good, but Dusty was way, way better. Savage over Luger - Most people forget that Savage could actually wrestle. Luger was just muscles. Oof. This is the closest match of the card. While I think Martel would actually win, I'll vote for Curt Hennig. During this time frame, Martel is much better, but I'll always be a hennig fan.
here are my votes: Ric Flair (NWA) vs. Kamala (WCCW): ric flair The Crusher (AWA) vs. Jimmy Snuka (WWF): jimmy snuka Barry Windham (NWA) vs. Sting (NWA): oh god tough one but sting Ultimate Warrior (WWF) vs. Greg Valentine (WWF): greg valentine David Von Erich (WCCW) vs. Iron Sheik (WWF): oh god another tough match, but im going with sheik here Dusty Rhodes (NWA) vs. King Kong Bundy (WWF): dusty rhodes Randy Savage (WWF) vs. Lex Luger (NWA): ah randy savage here Rick Martel (AWA) vs. Curt Hennig (AWA): curt henning
