Question:

Cleaning my leather sofa seems to have taken the color out?

My leather sofa is a burgundy color and I have been wiping it down with a damp rag. The color seems to have come out of the sofa. Is there any product I could use to restore the color of the sofa?

Answer:

There are leather dyes out there. I don't know if they'll work on your sofa, but you can try one in an inconspicuous spot on the sofa, see if it works. Let it dry thoroughly, then *also* check it to see it rubs off. You can find leather dyes at really good art stores, like Pearl Paint. You can also call in a pro and have them do this, if you've got the cash. In the future, use leather cleaner for your sofa. Leather cleaner is more of an oil/moisturizer. It won't dry out the leather, and it won't remove the color.
