Question:

cold air intake for toyota celica different shapedoes it matter?

hey, i found the cold air intake that i wanted, but one of them is long, like the tube is long and the other looks like its twisted upside dwnany difference?

Answer:

you need to take it to a mechanic NOT A TOYOTA DEALER. it doesnt sound like a transmission flush will solve it, but that is prob the first thing they will do.
if its the shifter itself that's hard then it might be the cable or the shifter assembly that needs to be freed up i would have someone else look at it to see what they say before the service which is a good thing to do
Don't confuse short air intake with cold air intake. DETAIL The long tube with one or two mild bends are short air intake. They are for everyday cars. The cold air intake take a 90 degree bends down. It is meant to fit somewhere between (or behind) the headlights and the side fender. These are meant for tracks. Even though you can use cold air intake on the street, you have to be real careful that you don't suck in a gulp of water when you hit a large puddle. Some short air intake has an air box that shields it from the engine heat and allow more outside (cold) air to be sucked in. This is a very good compromise. In my experience, just about any short air intake creates enough HP increase and nice sound effects. Or put in another way, it is good enough (real good). The reason is that the factor air box is so restrictive (because of noise limitation law) just about any kind of short air intake will allow much freer breathing. Don't forget about the low resistriction / how flow air filter (don't bother with re-usable filter - get a new one once every 1 to 3 years, depending on your local dust conditions). I have a 94 Civic EX. I have a real cheapy short air intake. And even so the power increase was noticeable. Also, at mild driving the car sound stock. When I open up the throttle and rev the engine above 5K RPM, my little Japanese mouse ROARS !!! Heee Haaa!!! Don't forget to vote for the BEST ANSWER - please - whoever it may be.
