i got into an accident a week ago and banged up the right side of my car. the filter box for the intake were smashed in so i thought this would be a good time to replace it with a cold air intake. but there is about 5 or 6 sensors on the top of the box. if i replaced it where would these go and what would i do with them all?

Yes, but it isn't THE way to do it. It will take time to shift all those gears, Just learn to downshift like the rest of us.
The idea with downshifting before you stop is that sometimes you need to immediately get going. Sometimes this is because of normal traffic, sometimes it's because something bad is happening. Either way, you want to build the muscle memory, and hence habit, of downshifting before you come to a stop. That way you're bike can go if you need it too.
if its a 1.8t than dont waste your time and money on getting a cold air intake the stock airbox already takes in as much air as the little turbo can handle so unless you upgrade the turbo than it wont do a thing.
Cold air intakes for the A4 actually decrease performance since you have a stock ram air system already set up. If you really want an increase in airflow just toss a KN filter in. None of the small bolt ons will do you much good as the OE system is already engineered to perform best at stock settings.
