Question:

cold air intake question about a 2007 3.5L impala?

I have a 2007 Impala with a 3.5L engine and want to get a cold air intake but don‘t know which one to get. I have been looking at the KN Apollo and the AIRAID UBI Master Kit I, but don‘t know which one is better? Any suggestions is welcome!!! Also what is a performance chip?

Answer:

I have a suggestion: Save your money and buy an KN air filter and drop in in the *cold air box that's already on your car! Look at your present air intake system. Carefully dissect where the air comes from that enters the large plastic cold air box. You will find a beautiful water-drained snorkel between the inner plastic fender-well and the outer fender. Driving at normal speeds there's not a dime's worth of fuel economy or power increase from the stock system to a high dollar trick one. Wide open throttle going like gang-busters you might see a 1-3 hp. increase over the stock one. People who buy aftermarket cold air intake systems constantly fight getting water in the intake every time you drive in the rain!
No, don't use your mountain bike for a triathalon. If you are serious about competition, buy a time trial bike. Look at Litespeed, Quintana Roo, or Specialized.
