Question:

cold air intake question!?

i have a 1997 prelude with an option racing cold air intake. i want to put in a ko filter. how much horse power will it add? it will cost about $45 dollars for a cai filter.and will it be hard to put in?

Answer:

The K N Filter will allow much more dirt in no matter how many times you wash it and add oil to it. Go with a regular large air filter. Wix makes a very good filter and you can buy them all over the place. Filters don't add H.P. they just might help with air flow though. Do the tail pipes first. air has to get out if it is coming in. I would start at the rear and work forwards.
well just make as many bars as you can then make armor of the highest level you can make
Not a chance for 30 HP2 at the most. Changing the filter is very easy, and should be performed on a yearly basis if using a cheap filter. If you change to a KN, you will only have to recharge it not replace it.
I would not buy a kn filter, first of all it wouldn't really add much horsepower maybe 1 or 2 at the most. Do you have a cone filter on it already? If so, it probally wouldn't up the hp any at all. The problem with kn is that it is a oil soaked filter, after time they get full of dirt due to attracting dirt, and all that dirt is sucked past the filter. even after you wash them with windex and dry them and recoat them with oil they still are loaded with dirt particles. they flow so well cause they have too big of holes and depend too much on oil to filter the dirt particles. also the oil can dry out as well. They also may get oil inside on your mass air sensor and throw off the important ecu readings and hurt your mpg. if you have a new filter, most cold air intakes come with one (dry flow are the best) you can change them out every year or so depending on conditions like if you drive through alot of dirt roads then just change it sooner, depending on how dirty it is. some of the best filters are AEM dry flow and amsoil dry flow. ** also make sure you dont put it in a spot that it will get wet as the filter will get soaked and pull in water theres alot of suction on the filter. and water is not good for your engine
