Question:

cold air intake system?

I would like to get a cold air intake system for my 2002 Saturn sl2, but I don‘t know much about cold air intakes. Which brand/ model would give the best performance? I dont want to end up buying an ineffective off brand system, so thanks in advance for the help!

Answer:

Intake System Design Air intake systems serve several important functions. Primarily, they are used to increase the amount of oxygen available to the engine and reduce air turbulence increasing power. Because cool air has greater density than hot air, aftermarket intakes improve combustion of fuel by capturing cooler air from outside the engine compartment. In addition, an aftermarket air intake system increases the diameter of the intake as compared to the original equipment, increasing air flow into the engine and making more oxygen available during the combustion process. By designing a more direct route for the air entering the engine, as well as a smoother interior surface for the intake, air resistance is reduced and air flow is increased. To protect the engine from damaging dirt, cold air intakes are also equipped with filters. Air intake systems can improve gas mileage and increase performance, and they also add a sleek, custom look to a vehicle. Uncle Jed is the man! They are as he said, absolutely! Other formulations will not play nice with Dot 3-4 do not use them!! Remember Brake fluid is hydroscopic which means it sucks up moisture from the atmosphere like a sponge. Change your fluid at least once a year at the start of riding season. Never use fluid from an open can. Keep away from chlorine!! All Hail Uncle Jed with a thumbs up!!
Get a MityVac suction cup gun. Vacuum the old fluid /sediment from the reservoir and clean it out with a paper towel using a small screwdriver to get into the crannies. Refill with Dot 4 . Then use the MityVac to bleed the brake line, adding fluid to the reservoir, as needed to keep it from emptying. When you see clear fluid, its done.
a cold air intake doesn't do much, except make noise, if you get 4-5 hp out of it you will be lucky your best hp increase with a stock engine is opening up the exhaust tube header bigger pipes, free flow cat and muffler againcat back systemmakes more noise than power exhaust, then performance cam, then fuel system
