Question:

Cold Air intake trouble?

I want to put a cold air intake on my car but when i looked around the filter box i saw 3 different sensors on it. Is there any way i can put a performance intake on it without disrupting the sensors? If so how?2004 Dodge Neon R/T MT

Answer:

You have to get a CAI (cold air intake) that is specifically made for your car make model and year. You'll have to put the sensors on the new intake, as long as you get an intake made for your car they will hook up just fine. A popular air intake company that might have a CAI for your car is AEM No you can't just go get the piping from pep boys and expect it to work properly, you need the spots to hook the sensors up. So yes you gotta buy an intake that was made for your car, or your check engine light is going to be constantly on, and you might end up actually hindering your engines performance.
Keep the stock air cleaner box in there. You won't feel any difference unless your cleaner was clogged up. All you're going to do is coat the mass air sensor with a light coat of oil that's all over these high flow ones.
an after market intake system should gave the spots for those sensors since you'll still need them.
