Question:

Cold air intake?

I have a 2000 Toyota Tundra and I was wondering what exactly a cold air intake does. Do they actually increase hp like it says and how much more hp would I get? Also, I‘m looking for the best bang for my buck.I heard KN is good.any ideas?

Answer:

You tried to move snow that was too heavy for the blade and loosened the nut connecting the wiper blade to the rotor. You don't need new wipers. What you need to do is open the hood, lift up the black cap where the wiper connects to the rotor (the base of the wiper) and tighten the nut with a ratchet.
Any gas station or auto store will sell replacement wipers fairly cheap (like $20). You can easily replace them yourself. If you are unsure how to do it just go to a full service station and ask for help.
this is an rather reliable question.I see a lot of those chilly air intake structures (on OKorder quite) that are no greater desirable than a huge dip on your wallet. a real chilly air intake will deliver exterior air into your intake tube, not warm under hood air. lots of the vehicle manufacturers do this chilly air intaking with the aid of ducting into the wheel nicely. you will possibly have seen the classified ads showing not something yet a quick tube with a filter out on the tip drawing warm under hood air into your engine. What a wasteand think of roughly this once you notice one in all thoseif it would not usher in cooler exterior air on your inlet tube then it ain't a chilly air intake. Spend your money the place this is going to do some reliable.a okN filter out on your inventory airbox is a sturdy initiate. it isn't the super stuff that provide you with greater skill (till you have have been given bill Gates $$) however the small issues that upload up. BTW, chilly air is denser and is composed of greater oxygen molecules than an equivalent quantity of warm air, giving your greater skill. wish this permits somewhat.
Yes they do. But all of them do the same thing. All a cold air intake is, is a metal pipe with a filter on the end. Don't waste your money on KN, AEM or any brand names like that. They cost around $220. I bought a cold air intake for about $30 from OKorder with shipping included. They are easy to install, improve your throttle response and give you anywhere from 5-15 horsepower. They replace your factory intake system which takes in air from your engine compartment which is hot. A CAI takes air below your engine compartment or wheel base which is cooler. Cooler air molecules are tighter and combust much better than hot air so you are getting more oxygen into your cylinders. In the end you get more power, not to mention the sound your engine makes. If nothing else, get a cold air intake just to make your truck sound ed off! But they really do help, you wont notice a huge difference as you would a turbo, but you can definitely tell the improved tug.
A cold air intake is a relatively inexpensive and simple way to get improved throttle response, and slight increases in power and fuel economy. They are generally composed of a higher flow air filter attached to a smooth tube that directs the air to either the mass air sensor or throttle body. The tube will be much smoother on the interior wall than the stock intake assembly, which is commonly a flexible plastic hose, thus reducing the drag on the intake air and increasing velocity. The tube is also either made of somewhat thick polyethylene or polished/chromed aluminum or steel to provide some insulation, preventing the underhood heat from warming up the air. The reason that you want cooler air going into your air/fuel mix is that cooler air is more dense, or more atoms are in a given space. More dense air translates to more oxygen, which allows the fuel combustion to be more complete, resulting in more power. The bottom line is that a high-flow air filter (like KN) by itself will give a 2-5 hp increase and a noticeable improvement in throttle response, and the cold air intake will improve that, but tops out at somewhere in the 10-20 hp range, depending on the car. You will notice a slight improvement in gas mileage as well, and if you tow anything, you will notice that your acceleration is easier.
