Question:

Connect HDMI DVD player to DVI LCD Monitor. Is this possible?

Can I connect an HDMI DVD player to DVI LCD Monitor?

Answer:

You can try a $4 converter. It may work but most likely not working because of hardware incompatibilities.
For about $4, yes you can. Simply get a HDMI to DVI adapter, plug the HDMI cable into your DVD player, plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the adapter, and then plug the DVI end of the adapter into your LCD Monitor. But note, that the DVI end of the adapter will not carry the audio signal, so you'll have to run another audio cable from the DVD player to your receiver/speakers/LCD Monitor. For the audio, I would suggest a digital coax (if you're hooking your DVD player to an audio receiver), or whatever both your DVD player and the device that will output the sound have in common.
That may be worth a try. Let me explain. My CPU (an Acer) has an HDMI, but my monitor (an older ACER) has only DVI. I went to my nearest computer store and got a connector with HDMI at one end and a DVI at the other. I connected the two with this and, Bingo, I've got a wicked sharp picture. NOW, FOR THE FINE PRINT. DVI DOES NOT carry any audio, so you'll have to make some other connection between the two for that. Also, if I remember correctly, there is more than one type of DVI. Mine was a DVI-E. If that is the case, make note of which DVI you need.
