Constipation in pregnancy.?

Is there anything I can do to relieve constipation, that doesn't involve suppositories or prunes? I can't stand prunes, and I need to poo, not vomit, hahahaBut is there any foods or drinks that help? I drink between 6-15 full glasses of water a day, so liquids aren't a problemI need something that I can bring with me to class to munch on as well, so some things just won't work, like yogurt.

You are going to get a lot of different answers on this one, because everybody's body is differentI have had awful constipation and gas pains throughout my pregnancy, and have only learned through trial and error what works for me All the above suggestions are good ones; Colace works for some (didn't for me)All in all, you are supposed to get 25 grams of dietary fiber a dayThis is not an easy task! One serving of Post Raisin Bran will get you about sevenA serving of green beans will get you about five gramsThere is another cereal on the market that I found called Wheetabix that has 11 grams of fiber a serving (not the tastiest cereal but health and edible) As for a supplement to foods, I think that Citracul is the best product on the marketIt contains insoluble fiber, which is less likely to cause gas than soluble fiber (which I think Metamucil contains)It is fine to take during pregnancy and can be found at CVS, Walgreens, etc As for products to bring to class, All Bran has new snack crackers out that do not taste half badThey contain five grams of fiber per servingI found them to be effective Good luck - I hope you get it under control, as I know how miserable it can be!
