Question:

Continuing with your preforming art through life?

If your an actor or musician or dancer or anythingand you love doing that but its not something you want to do as a career in the future would you quit or would you use it as a way to escape from the stress of life?Or would you continue with it-while persuing what you really want- just because its something you love to do?

Answer:

If your art is a passion, you'll find a way to continue doing it for your entire life. As we age, our goals and passions often change. I've seen some musicians lay down their instruments and pursue other interests. Many, like myself, are still playing. Pop culture exposes us to the stars of the arts, and sometimes we tend to think in black and white terms. The truth is that for every professional dancer, actor, or musician, there are hundreds of amateurs doing it part-time as a pastime, or escape from the daily grind. You'll find local theater groups and community bands in almost every town. I have friends who sing and play instruments for church or volunteer to entertain at nursing homes. There are local monthly jam sessions. Then there are the weekend warriors: the part-time musicians who hold day jobs but gig in clubs on the weekends. I've been doing that since the 1970's. I'm in two bands and most of the members are just like me: old timers who still enjoy playing and just can't lay their instruments down. When you are passionate about your art, you'll find there are many non-career many outlets.
