Question:

Copper Tubing needs rounded...Tool used?

Ok so when you buy piping from the manufacture they come in egg-shaped....I am looking for a tool to insert into the piping to stretch the copper to piece them together. Does anyone know the manufactures of these tools (name of the tool??? etc)? Thanks.

Answer:

I assume you are referring to coiled copper tubing, that has been damaged while being shipped from one store to another. The swedging tool is used to insert inside a piece of copper, in order to make a larger end, in order for a piece of copper the same size to fit inside the swedged piece. A flaring block would work, but it will take quite a few passes to make the egg shaped pipe round again, and is primarily used to put a flare on the end of a piece of copper tubing. Good luck!
never seen egg shaped copper tubing
Go to your local A/C supply house. Ask for a swedgeing tool. They carry different ones. Look for one about 6in long starts at1/4 and steps up to 7/8. I assume you are talking about roll tubing. Use care in the cut depth as you tighten your tubing cutter as to deep a cut will only compound your problem.
I have been in the plumbing game for 30 years and the only time I saw egg-shaped tubing was when it was damaged in transit..It was sold for it's scrap value only. I don't know what country you are from, but in UK it is considered scrap. If you have copper tubing that is damaged and you wish to use it I would suggest getting a compression fitting with olives, placing the tubing between two pieces of wood and gently squashing it back in a vice, even vice grips might work. You will know when enough is enough. then try the olive on the fitting..
yeah, I'm with xenon: egg-shaped? i think you might mean a flaring tool, to create a bugle flared end to apply a threaded fitting. these are available at any DIY or plumbing supply store. Hope that helps.
