With the make up of the M1's Chobham armor it is highly unlikely that a King Tigers 88mm round could penetrateThe 88mm high velocity round was ideal for carving up Allied armor almost without exception although these tanks were plain steel and aluminumChobham is formed by spacing multiple layers of various alloys of steel, ceramics, plastic composites, and kevlar not to mention add on reactive armorOn the other side, an M1's 120mm gun using a sabot round would put a nice sized window entering and leaving the King Tiger.
