Question:

Could I use only PVC?

Copper will cost too much and I don't have the flex room for pex so I can't use those. Can I use just PVC for my entire house? Both cold and hot water?I'm putting it in the ceiling if that makes a difference?

Answer:

Cpvc is code approved for use indoors. PVC is only approved for outside the footprint of the building when you ate talking about pressurized water lines. With that said I'd use pex. Cpvc and PVC alike are very poor performing materiels when they get cold. 1hr of freezing temps can break PVC. Then once the ice thaws your flooded. With pex the pipe swells with the ice, then just returns to shape. Pex can be installed with no special tools if you use shark-bite fittings. Pex is the way to go for sure.
I have an older home that had all galvanized pipes and i swapped over to pvc for cold lines and cpvc for hot water lines for the entire house and it has worked great for years.
You can use CPVC throughout however it's typically used just for hot water. PVC is suitable for cold water only and isn't designed for hot. I'll concur and recommend PEX Shark Bite, even though the cost is higher than CPVC. If you can install rigid plastic pipe you can use PEX. It's up to you and your budget.
Many houses are already plumbed using PVC for both the feed lines and the drains, so yes, it CAN and IS done all the time. Al
