Question:

Covering up walls with curtains?

My bf and I just moved into our first apartment. It has bare, white walls and we arent allowed to paint them.We can hang anything etc. We have been trying to come up with a creative way to bring color to the walls. We were thinking of covering one of the walls with curtains. Basically just making the walls the curtains, I guess. If you think this could work, could you give us some advice how to make it work and look good?Should we use curtains that are a solid color or pattern? Thanks for the advice. We arent creative people and were having a difficult time decorating our first lace! (:

Answer:

Well your always allowed to hang **** in apartments, so i suggest talking to the landlord, because honestly curtains are quite tacky, not worth it! just hang stuff any how, he/she cant evict you for that!
pretty much in all states the laws are that you have to give the apartment back in the same condition as you received it........so you can paint but then you have to paint it back to its present color which most of the time is Navajo white. Ask the landlord if you can get a small can of the paint so if you nick or ding the walls you can touch it up.........take that to the paint store and have them match it so that you have it when your ready to paint. Then paint one wall a different color and then pull that color into the room with pillows and art work on the opposite walls
Are you allowed to use wall paper. If you are you can use that. It's a little hard to get of the wall but it's so much fun to take off. You just get a steamer or steam blower cleaning thing and steam the walls. It won't peel off but it will loosen the glue so you can peel it. You can hang curtains on the window instead of the wall. And fill up the wall with pictures and shelves with small nic nacks. I have these squares and they are 3 different sizes, you hang them on the wall and put like flowers or books inside. It's like having a book shelf but only a very small square bookshelf...if that makes sense
