if you have him in a 10gal, or 20gal-long tank, use a 75W heat bulb (the ones shaped like a normal bulb) or a 60W basking bulb (the ones that look like flood lights) if he's in a taller tank, use the next size upeither way, if the rock gets too hot for you to comfortably put the palm of your hand on it, go down a size, or mount the light higher

get one that has a small switch so he can turn it off and on with his little toes.
