I know it's so high but did they do anything to stop the fire or what they just evacuated people, and watched the fire till it stops magically?
If the drive is old, then the rubber friction pads that hold the disk to the motor has been worn out. I fixed it by opening it up and replacing the friction disk with a rubber sheet cut out into a ring. Then use glue to glue it onto the existing disk. The sheet has to be thin(1 mm). Eraser slices may work. If you really want to test this before you open up your cd drive, then glue a thick paper disk onto the underside of the CD(the inner transparent plastic part only. Dont block the shiny part with the paper). Wait for the glue to dry. Insert it into the drive. If it works properly then it is surely a friction problem. If not, probably something else is wrong.
If URL has been blocked by your schools network,then you probably won't be able to get on it,and trying to unblock it will probably get you found out.
