Difference from a muffler and exhaust system? Do they both make noise? Is it possible to have both a muffler and exhaust. I want a loud car?

Answer:

A muffler is part of a exhaust system. From the engine it goes Header-downpipe- catalytic converter and then muffler. I may be missing one, not sure but if you want a loud car for cheap you can drill holes into the muffler or just cut it off(then you can buy a new exhaust tip on eBay, unless your trying to buy performance pieces.)
my daughter went from her scooter to a CBR125R after a couple of years she rides it around town and to and from work some days (drives other times). I think that you are going about it the right way you don't want to get too big a bike until you have more time in the saddle and are comfortable. My daughter says that she can't reach the floor with my 600 so that is also a factor that you have to consider.
The muffler is part of the exhaust system, which includes the headers, catalytic converter and the pipes between them.
The exhaust system connects to the engine and goes under the car and out the back. Exhaust manifold(s), catalytic converter, muffler, pipes.
