Question:

Disstilling moonshine from plastic bucket.?

Is it safe to use a plastic bucket for a boiler pot while distilling moonshine?

Answer:

No, it will melt.
Yes okorder
Use a pressure cooker. Attach a hose on the vent at the top, and loop the plastic tubing through some ice water. Have a collection vessel at the end to catch the drips.
You can use a melamine vessel in a microwave setup, but a plastic bucket is a completely different type of plastic that will not stand the heat. You can leave the bucket outside if you are in a cold climate and the water will freeze and you can skim out the ice crystals leaving the alcohol behind. In cider for example, you can keep hard cider until the next season without it spoiling from concentrating the alcohol this way.
