Do cement finishers often work long hours?

Do cement finishers often work long hours?

Answer:

if they have a girl friend on the side, the hours can be quite long!
In the Phx area, they work early mornings........but not usually more than 8-9 hours a day
Yes they have to finish smoothing out the cement before they can quit . That time depends on time of pour and humidity in the air
Yes they do. They usually help to pour the concrete plus finish.By pouring I mean they usually bull-float the concrete right behind the pouring. After that they wait for it to get a set. Then they either trowel finish or use a mechanical whirlybird. When you trowel finish you put a matrix on the concrete, that water proofs the slab. Many times they work 3 to 5 hours after the pour is completed. It also depends on the size of the pour.
They sure do, they are tied to the setting of the cement that cannot be paused until the next day The cement is poured . everybody can go home but the finisher must complete the job , there and THEN If he leaves it until the next day the cement is hard and beyond further manipulation. which is what the finishing is , smoothing and leveling the surface or maybe even working a design or texture in it whilst the cement is hardening. The speed with which he has to work is too a certain extent determined by the temperature and humidity of the environment
