Question:

Do cold air intakes increase gas mileage or decrease gas mileage?

I know already that a warm-air intake increases gas mileage, but does a cold air intake do this too? I just want to know since I already installed one! I love the sound it makes and the extra power, but I‘m just curious.

Answer:

The theory is that a cold air intake will give the engine denser oxygen laden air which will allow more fuel to be burned in a given power stroke. If you get more power, you should IN THEORY, press lighter on the skinny pedal to reach a given speed. Now.do ya' really go lighter on it?
The car efficiency will increase, because there is a easier intake of air into the engine. A cold air intake's job is to reduce the length of the air as it enters the engine and to be able to take in colder air from the outside which is more dense and filling the combustion chamber more which causes a cleaner combustion. One problem is that the air flow meter will record a higher intake of air, causing the setting for the fuel injection to be increased. I don't think it will increase mileage, but will increase efficiency on a car.
Better gas mileage, because it helps to cool the cylinders resulting in better compression, and power strokes.
